I’m Dr Robert Moore, a Melbourne-based biologist and data scientist, and the founder of Moore Biological.
From complex biology to clearer information.
I started this business to bring biological testing and practical data analysis together—helping animal owners understand their results and build a clearer picture of their livestock over time.
My scientific training began with a Bachelor of Biological Science at Deakin University, majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology. I later completed a PhD at Monash University in computational biology, where my research combined biological imaging, computer vision and statistical modelling to investigate how biological form changes over time and in response to environmental conditions.
Much of that work involved turning complex biological images and large datasets into information that could be measured, interpreted and understood. Through Moore Biological, I’m bringing that same approach to livestock parasite monitoring: careful observation, clear evidence and useful information.
The approach
A result should be the beginning of understanding—not simply a number on a report.
Individual tests provide valuable information, but keeping results together over time helps owners ask better questions about their animals, their properties and their management practices.
Your information, connected over time.
Moore Biological is being developed around that idea. Parasite testing results, microscope images and treatment records come together in a personal dashboard, giving you a practical way to follow changes and access your animals’ history.
Whether you care for one animal or manage several species and herds across multiple properties, the aim is the same: make your information easier to find, understand and use.
Transparency is an important part of that approach. By including microscope images showing examples of the parasite types identified in a sample, we help connect the reported counts with what was observed in the laboratory. You can see the evidence behind your results and use that information to support discussions with your veterinarian.
Useful without unnecessary complexity.
You shouldn’t need a background in science or statistics to benefit from your own data. My role is to bring those skills into the service, making the information useful without adding unnecessary complexity.
For owners with more specific questions, I’m also interested in working together on tailored analysis, reporting and tools that reflect the needs of their operation.
Long term, my ambition is to build on this foundation through research and development in biological imaging, computer-assisted analysis and monitoring tools. Any new approach needs careful testing and validation, but the purpose will remain straightforward: help people better understand their animals through accessible, evidence-based information.
